**UPCOMING CHANGES TO THE NOTARY COMMISSION AND BONDING PROCESS**

Changes are coming to the current notary bonding process with the PA Department of State, which streamline the current paper-and-mail processes that are used by notaries and the Recorders of Deeds offices.  We ask for your patience as the transition takes place.

Under the new process, notary commissions will no longer be mailed to the Recorders of Deeds offices.  Commissions will be printed from the Department of State portal when notaries come into Recorders’ offices to take their oath and record their paperwork.

Additionally, the change will now affect how notaries receive appointment letters and bonds.  Notaries will no longer receive an appointment letter and blank bond by mail, but rather, beginning March 23, appointees will now receive these items by e-mail.  This will enable notaries to utilize the full 45 days to obtain a bond and come into their respective Recorders of Deeds offices to complete the commissioning process.

Please call our office at 717-299-8238 if you have any questions.
